Sloop Sailing Season Ends

The 2007 sloop sailing season is finished.

At the end of this regatta season, the top four sloops totaling the most points in their respective classes are presented with cash prizes at the Bahamar Boat Of the Year Awards banquet.

BahaMar has pledged $35,000 towards this year's cash prizes. The following have been allocated for the BOY cash prizes in the A-Class division.

The first place prize will be $7,000. $5,000 will go to the second place finisher, $3,000 to third and $1,500 for the fourth place finisher. The top four B-class boats will receive $5,000, $3,000, $1,500 and $1,000 in cash prizes while the top four Cclass boats receives $3,000, $2,000, $1,000 and $700 in cash prizes, respectively.

Winning the A-class division is Good News with 35 points, followed by the Silent Partner with 29 points, Thunderbird, 25 points and the Lucayan Lady with 20 points.

In the B-class division, the Ants Nest (42) is leading by one point over the Eudeva'S 41 points followed by the Ansbacher Queen with 37 points and the Heathcliff with 26 points. It was a close race in the Cclass division. The Lady

Eunice leads with 32 points, the Thunderbird stands second with 31 points, the Queen Brigette stands third with 24 points and the Barbarian closes out the top four positions with 21 points.

The annual Boat of the Year Award is set for December 1, at the Blue Note Lounge, Nassau Beach Hotel.
